Gaoqiao Ancient Town
located in the north of Pudong with over 800 years' history dating back to the Southern Song Dynasty (1127-1279). The town of Gaoqiao adjoins the Yangtze River estuary to the north, the Huangpu River to the west and the Waigaoqiao Port to the south, covering a total area of 38.73 square kilometers. Run through by a T-shaped river course, Gaoqiao Old Street is divided into three parts, namely the north, east and west streets.
Wooden houses, flagstone roads, old shops, and a combination of Chinese and Western architecture has become a unique highlight of Gaoqiao. Apart from a dozen 100-year-old residences, there are free museums along the two streets that document some of the town's nearly 1,000-year history.

Yangxian Hall - Gaoqiao Historical and Cultural Exhibition Hall
was originally the former residence of Shen Jinfu. The building is a two-story brick-wood structure combining Chinese and Western styles. The front view is a Chinese-style house, and from the back across the river, it looks like a Western-style villa built on the water. On the east street is a detached steel concrete house that has stood for more than 80 years. Now it serves as Exhibition Hall featuring over 600 cultural relics collected from locals. Its former owner was Gaoqiao native Shen Jinfu. Shen was mainly engaged in selling foreign goods like flour, kerosene, soaps and matches, so he had many chances to come into contact with the Western world. When the hall was first being built, a lot of foreign architectural elements were integrated. Many items in the building are imports from abroad such as the mantelpiece, floor materials and even the bronze door bolts.

is an Hui-style brick-wood structure residential building, which is now a Museum. The house porches, railings and French windows are also exquisitely crafted. Doors, windows, corridors, door covers, and the end of the eaves are decorated with carvings, rich in themes, stop and watch, endless aftertaste, and the whole building is of great ornamental value. The fleece embroidery works displayed indoors are very artistic, with vivid images, rich colors, clear levels, and strong three-dimensionality. When you enter the hall of the house, you can see the treasure of the town hall of the Velvet Embroidery Hall. The embroidered French David's oil painting "Napoleon Crosses the Saint Bernard Mountain" is known as the masterpiece of "Oriental Oil Painting". Gaoqiao cashmere embroidery has been listed on the national intangible cultural heritage protection list. Gaoqiao is not only the birthplace of Chinese woolen embroidery, but also a well-known hometown of woolen embroidery. He has won numerous awards in previous China Arts and Crafts Expositions.
