Gouqi Island
The name "Gouqi" derives from the plant which grows on it, Gouqi (Goji; Wolfberry). The island has a number of small townsites around it, and little in the way of resorts or other major tourist developments. It is primarily a fishing island, and the mussel farms draw huge revenues for China. The tourism industry is based around DaWang Beach (a beach on the east of the island). Shengshan Island
Houtouwan Village
Lies in the low area between two coastal capes and it is surrounded by the mountains on three sides and faced with the ocean in the north. Established in the 1950s, Houtouwan Village became a major living area for residents of Shengshan Island by the 1980s. Shengshan fishery was the center of Zhoushan fishery and naturally Houtouwan became a busy fishing village. Generations of fishermen settled down there and the population during the peak period exceeded 3000. In the 1990s, with the rapid development of fishing industry, villagers of Houtouwan Village became gradually wealthy, but due to inconvenient transportation and limited living area of the village, villagers began to move away. In 2002 the whole village was relocated.

East Cliffs
Located in the easternmost end of Shengshan Island, hence the name. As the cliff is steep and plunges abruptly into the sea, making it impossible for climbing, it has been known as “bold cliffs”. It is a typical geological phenomena of large scale sea erosion that stretches for three kilometers. The scenic spot boasts crystal clear seawater and precipitous mountains.
